The exhibit of winning photographs from the annual Mingo Photo Contest will be on display in the library during the month of December. Photos feature native wildlife and plants, as well as people in nature. The photos show the considerable photographic talent of youth and adults in Southeast Missouri. The display is made possible by the Mingo Swamp Friends. Winter is a special time to visit Mingo National Wildlife Refuge. Waterfowl continue to arrive on the refuge. The resident eagles are hanging around their nests, with eagles from the north adding to their numbers. Deer are more easily seen in the winter. The refuge is open from daylight to nightfall every day. The Visitor Center Wildlife with its natural history exhibits is open weekdays from 8:30 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. during the winter months.
